KIPI Sports was on-site for the SoDak Region 8B Regular Season match-up between the (1-4) Takini Sky Hawks, coached by Jordan Knife, and the (1-5) Tiospaye Topa Thunder Hawks. Head Coach Jeremy Whalen. Marty Brave Shooting Guard Kristapher Meeter was in the building for the 2nd meeting of Takini/Topa this season. The Thunder Hawks def. Takini 2 weeks ago at Barnett Arena,(LNI’23) with Jakolby Rousseau earning the KIPI Radio Player of the Game finishing with 20 points and 5 steals.
The Sky Hawks Senior #4 Ted Eagle Jr. would make his season debut for Takini Basketball and with Eagle, Curley and Quilt’s solid offensive attack, the Sky Hawks were in control for the entire 2nd half. Ted Eagle Jr.finishing with 23 pts.5 ast. Takini Senior #12 Red Curley hit 4 threes in the 2nd quarter and finished with 14 pts, and the Takini defense held Jakolby Rousseau and Isaiah Lee to a combined 9 pts. Tiospaye Topa Senior #10 Kaden Rousseau led TTHS with 19pts. Junior Forward # 22 Bailee Hall had 12 pts.
The Thunder Hawk freshmen were impressive, #3 Laken Traversie putting up 13 pts, and #20 Steven Garnette played every quarter of the game and making impact on both ends of the floor.
The KIPI Radio Player of the game Takini Jr. PG #1 Logan Quilt. Logan had a game-high 26 pts. Final Score Takini 73, Tiospaye Topa 57, and that puts them at (1-1) on the season against each other. Next possible match-up could be at the Dakota Oyate Challenge Jan. 25th, 26th and 27th at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD.
