KIPI Sports was present for the Opening Game between the Tiospaye Topa Lady Thunder Hawks and the Timber Lake Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers we too much as the Lady Thunder Hawks played the entire game with only 5 players. KIPI Player of the Game #15 Senior Guard Kendyl Locken 16 pts.

Tiospaye Topa Double Header against McIntosh -Lady Thunder Hawks win, Pamela Meeter 21 pts. McIntosh boys win by 2 points in a close finish putting the Thunder Hawks at (0-1) 

KIPI Sports was also at the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Lady Braves season opener as they hosted the Mobridge Pollock Lady Tigers. The Lady Tigers outscored C-EB but the Lady Braves Seniors showed their great shooting ability and the Freshman Suni Bowman was big off the bench. KIPI Radio Player of the Game #1 Soph Tegan Konold 20 pts. 

65 years of CHEYENNE-EAGLE BUTTE BRAVES BASKETBALL

The Braves opened up their 65th Basketball Season with a 19pt. victory over Crazy Horse. Coach Galen Eberhard’s starting five for the night:

Soph-Levi Elk Nation, Soph- Damien Clown, Soph- Nehemiah Veaux, Junior Forward Easton Lawrence and Senior Braxton Kennedy. The first bucket of the season was made by Braxton Kennedy and Brax would finish with 13 on the night. Damien Clown had 12 pts off of four big three pt. buckets made. Nehemiah Veaux picked up 3 steals and 11 pts. Danah Diver added 6 pts. Easton Lawrence 8 pts. Jaden Taken Alive 2pts. Destin Straight Head 2pts. Nick Woods 2pts. and Levi Elk Nation had 4 and was big all throughout the game, filling up almost every column in the KIPI Stat Sheet. 

The KIPI Radio Player of the Game honors go to Dayson Kennedy, Sophomore shooting guard came off the bench with 17 pts, erupting the C-EB Gym with three 3’s and pushing the Braves’ lead far enough to coast through the last few minutes of the game. After the first quarter the Braves were up by 3, at half-time the Braves were up 38 to 25 and the Final Score was 79-60. 

Crazy Horse has multiple scorers in DeVaughn Between Lodges, Donnie Ghost Dog, Richard Pumpkin Seed and Noah Iron Horse. Head Coach James Bagwell and the Chiefs head into the 46th annual Lakota Nation Invitational with a (1-1) record. 

The Braves open up LNI against Oelrichs on Wednesday at 12:30pm MT -Barnett Arena. 

The Dupree Tigers Soph-Jayden Marshall was amazing with 23 pts. 6 reb. and 2 stl. Elijah Brewer 11pts and Brayden Terveen-Smith was big with 10pts. The New Underwood Tigers would escape Dupree with a victory and the KIPI Radio Player of the Game #25 Cash Albers 20 pts. 6reb, 2 stl. 

The Dupree Lady Tigers defeated New Underwood led by Senior Guard Taylee Jewett as she earns her 2nd KIPI Radio Player of the Game award with 25 pts and 10 stl. 

The Takini Sky Hawks lost on the road at Wakpala, the Sioux led by Zachary Moran who had 21 pts and 15 rebounds, Takini Senior Red Curley picked up 24 pts and 18 rebounds.
