Game rescheduled from January 18th due to weather complications.

The #1 boys basketball team in South Dakota Region 8-B came into Monday’s contest with a season record of (10-1). The Faith Longhorns are coming off a 54-47 loss to Hot Springs (Thursday Jan 25).

The Dupree Tigers lose their 3rd game in 5 days- Thursday Jan. 25 loss @ Philip 44-63, Saturday Jan.27 3pt. loss vs. Crow Creek and 48-63 home loss vs. Faith. The Tigers look to bounce back with back-to-back home games vs. the Little Wound on Friday Feb.2, and Tiospaye Topa Monday Feb.5.

The jump ball was easily won by Faith Senior #5 Caden Selby. Selby is 6’7 and can shoot from anywhere on the court and had 9 first half points to pace the Longhorns. The tigers opened the 1st quarter hitting four 3’s from Jayden Marshall, Kingslee Parker and Elijah Brewer. Brewer and Marshall would combine for 17 first quarter points.

At the half Faith’s senior duo of Schauer and Selby would have 19 of the Longhorn’s 24 pts. Dupree’s Brewer and Marshall would also have a combined 19 of the Tigers 31 first half points.

When the second half began Longhorn captain Jackson Schauer went on a 11pt run before a 3 from Selby would steal the lead from the Tigers with 2 mins left. Tiger Sophomore #0 Tre White Wolf would force a turnover on the Faith offense and hit both free-throws to put Dupree back on top 36-35 at end of 3rd quarter.

The Tiger seniors would battle downlow every Faith possession. #3 Randen Eagle Chasing would have 3 big buckets over Selby, finishing with 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Terveen-Smith would hit a big 3 after being left wide-open all first half. Terveen-Smith, White Wolf and Bobby Brewer are a defensive trio that can make a huge difference in the post-season for Coach Meeks’ Tigers. Brewer, Parker and Marshall have the scoring potential to get the Tigers to Rapid City this year. (Rapid City location of 2024 SD State “A” Boys Basketball Tournament), but the Longhorns Senior duo would outscore the Tigers down the stretch and defeat Dupree 63-48, increasing their record to (11-1). Tigers fall to (5-7)

KIPI Radio Player of the Game – Faith 6’1 Senior PG #10 Jackson Schauer. Schauer finished with 31 pts 8 reb 4 stl, This would be Jackson’s 2nd POTG
