Today is the final day of the L.D. LaPlante Jr. Suicide awareness and memorial trail ride. The ride began in Blackfoot a week ago and will be at 4-mile junction outside of Eagle Butte at 11Am today. All riders are welcome. This is the first of a four-year commitment made by ride organizers.

The Annual Cheyenne River Labor Day Weekend Celebration officially begins today…This year’s theme “Remembering our past to strengthen our future” kicks off at the rodeo grounds this evening with The Romey Gunville Saddle Bronc Chute Out – the Chute Out begins at 6:30PM with rodeos to follow al through the weekend – the Chute out is a memorial competition for Romey Gunville…Powwow Grand entry begins Friday at 7PM with Standing Horse as the Host Drum. Dancers can look forward to cash prizes in every category…There is a 20-thousand-dollar drum split for the weekend, 44-thousand-dollar prizes in singing categories and on Monday, festivities begin early at 10AM with the Main Street Parade with many prize categories.
