White saviors are the worst’ says a Minnesota lawmaker who tells ‘white Christians’ to ‘stop adopting Native American babies’ because changing their names and identities is ‘genocide’. Representative Heather Keeler, a Democrat from Minnesota and an enrolled member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe recently called the adoption of Native American babies by white Christian families akin to genocide. The representative is the author of a bill that says putting Native American children in white homes strips them of their identity and ‘is a form of genocide,’  Keeler says “Help the actual issues impacting indigenous parents, stop stealing our babies and changing their names under the impression you are helping”.

 

Denver’s Tocabe American Indian Eatery is sending meals to those in need on reservations. Fifteen years ago, Tocabe American Indian Eatery opened its first location in Denver, with a mission beyond simply serving delicious food — though ask its diehard fans, and they’ll tell you it has certainly done that, too. “Tocabe was really developed as a way to try and share Native cuisine, but also share image, identity, and culture,” said co-owner Ben Jacobs. “We wanted to make that open and available for anyone in the public to not only share our culture but to share our cuisine at the same time.”
