Native American ACTIVIST AMANDA BLACKHORSE Says CHANGE the CHIEFS NAME and Calls On Mahomes, and Rihanna To Join Protest…Native American activist Amanda Blackhorse — a social justice leader who helped force Washington’s NFL team to change its name — is now calling for the Chiefs to switch their moniker, and she’s urging Rihanna and Patrick Mahomes to join the cause. Blackhorse and other Indigenous advocates protested at State Farm Stadium on Sunday during the Super Bowl, in an effort to get the ball rolling on ridding K.C. of its longstanding team name.
In gratitude and appreciation. The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe proclaims Verna Moran Day! The day was January 30th, 2023, and it was proclaimed as a day forever known in Verna’s honor. Verna was born on January 25th in 1953 at Bear Creek, to Catherine (Dog Eagle) Moran and Stanley Moran Sr. She attended high school at Isabel Public School, she then continued her education at United Tribes Technical Institute in which she obtained her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She also attended Lake Area Vocational Technical College earning a degree as a Medical Lab Tech. She had four children Michelle Moran-Walking Elk, Jonni Arpan, Edward Brave Thunder and Tommi McLaughlin, and four grandchildren Brendan Walking Elk, Carmen Brave Thunder, Chaela Brave Thunder and Mason Arpan. Verna is a Lakota speaker, and she has served the tribe for over 40 years.
