The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians becomes first tribe in U.S. to add donor registration to tribal IDs…Joan Azure, the driving force behind the effort to put donor registration on Turtle Mountain tribal IDs pursued the change in honor of her grandson Greyson Parisien, who died in 2019. Azure, showed a sample tribal i.d. card with a donor designation, on Monday to photographers at the Grand Fork Herald during an event on the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa reservation in Belcourt, N.D.
The Department of Sustainability & Environment and the Native American Studies Program at the University of South Dakota are recruiting a new faculty member at the level of instructor, lecturer, or assistant professor of practice to begin in August 2023. We seek candidates with interdisciplinary expertise in Indigenous/Native American food systems. The successful candidate will contribute to a food systems specialization that is being developed within the undergraduate sustainability major. They will develop and teach elective courses within their area(s) of specialization and may teach other core courses for the Sustainability or Native American Studies programs. They will work closely with USD’s Native Student Services and may wish to contribute to the Institute of American Indian Studies’ programming.
