KIPI Sports | 65th year of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Basketball

The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Gymnasium was about 78 percent full for the Lady Braves season opener.DJ Absolute of KIPI Radio was cool calm and collected for his 9th game as a KIPI Sports broadcaster. This game also marks the beginning of the 65th year of C-EB Hoops. In that time Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves Basketball has produced 20+ State Tournament Teams and 1 State Championship (1959).

Coach Molash’ team was rattled early by tough defense from the Lady Tigers. 5’6 Sophomore #1 Tegan Konold was big in the first half with 17 pts, finishing with 20 on the night and earning tonight’s KIPI Radio “Player of the Game.” This season’s POTG award is sponsored by the Affordable Connectivity Program. 

The Lady Braves Senior PG #12 Tiana Johnson went 4/4 from 3pt. and this year’s team is full of shooters. Jr Shooting Guard #25 Kai’Loni Johnson hit a baseline 3 that erupted the gym and led to a run for the Lady Braves. Freshman SG #24 Suni Bowman was big off the bench with 6 pts and 2 blocks. Senior PG Mariah Buffalo-Halfred had great control of the basketball throughout the game and also picked up a 3 in the 2nd half. Jr Forwards Jailynn Knife and Makya Bordeaux were big downlow for the Lady Braves.

The speed and scoring ability of Mobridge-Pollock was fun to watch as they had 3 or 4 players in double digits and pick up their 2nd win of the season. Final score 82-36 Mobridge-Pollock 2-0. Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 0-1, next game Saturday December 9 DH @ Miller.
